Free Legal Aid in Child Welfare Matters

The state covers legal aid for a person who needs expert help in a legal matter but is unable to pay for it themselves due to their financial situation. Legal aid covers, among other things, appeals against decisions by the child welfare authority and the Administrative Court.

In addition to low-income parents, minor children are also entitled to free legal aid. Legal aid applies to you, for example, if you currently receive social benefits from Kela, such as income support, housing allowance, or unemployment benefit.

In Finland, you may be entitled to legal aid either in full or in part. If you are entitled to legal aid without a personal contribution, our service is completely free of charge for you.

We contact the legal aid office on your behalf and determine your right to free legal aid.
